Callaway Gardens in the Fall

Fall is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors in Columbus, Georgia. What better place to experience all the sights and sounds of the region than at Callaway Gardens? With the leaves turning, cool crisp air, and the excitement of the impending holiday season that is near this is a great time to channel some of your excitement into these activities that are sure to have something to please everyone in your family.

The 12th Annual Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival will be held the weekend of September 3rd – 5th. The breathtaking balloon glow will take place on Friday evening with balloon flights on Saturday and Sunday morning. Other activities will include swimming, rock climbing, music performances, pancake breakfasts, face painting, and sand castle building just to name a few.

The 30th Annual Triathlon will be held on Sunday, September 5th. The event will be begin at 8 a.m. and will feature a day of great feats with a 1k swim, 30k bike ride, and 8k run.

For the 26th year, The Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens will be held on November 6th. Enjoy the exciting day from a tent, box seat or the infield as you watch the gallant thoroughbred horses race over timber & brush hurdles. Don’t miss the event of the season with fun for the whole family including pony rides, the parade of the Midland foxhounds, Southern views Hat contest, and Junior races.

Test your running skills in the Twilight 10K on November 6th. Only 500 spots are available for this run through the stunning “Fantasy in Lights” production.

Feel the thrill with a Mountain Bike Race through Callaway Gardens’ undeveloped property with many climbs & thrilling descents on November 7th. Three races will be held to give you the opportunity to choose your race based on your skill level.

Founders Day will be held on November 6th in celebration of Cason Callaway’s birthday. Enjoy the park for free to celebrate. Organ concerts will be in the Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel from 12-4.
