2009 Christmas Events in Columbus, GA
There are lots of things to do in the Columbus, GA area to celebrate the holiday season with family and friends. Whether you are visiting the Columbus area for the holidays, looking for a night out with the girls, or wanting to create memories with the kids, you can find something special to help you celebrate. Here is a list of events happening this December that caught my eye and I thought you might enjoy; all for under $40.
Callaway Gardens: Fantasy in Lights
Callaway Gardens started its Christmas light spectacular in 1992 with 5 Christmas scenes and has been carrying on the annual tradition ever since. Celebrating its 18th year, Fantasy in Lights now has over a dozen Christmas scenes to explore displayed in over 8 million lights and animated by sound. The 5 mile tour will take you into a winter wonderland featuring the March of the Toy Soldiers, Santa’s Workshop, Snow Flake Valley and much more. Enjoy refreshments and shopping in the Christmas Village and don’t forget to stop by and visit Santa. As you go by the beach stop, and reminisce as the scenes of The Nativity and The Night Before Christmas come to life.

The Springer Opera House: A Tuna Christmas
Laugh at all the hustle and bustle of the holidays as you watch this hilarious comedy set in the small town of Tuna, Texas. The eccentric characters tell their tale of seasonal disasters with A Christmas Carol production that’s falling apart and a house decorating contest that is being sabotaged by a mysterious Christmas phantom!

Historic Home Tour
Dive into the holidays with a self-guided tour of 9 beautiful homes full of history and displayed with all the cheer of the season. There will be refreshments and entertainment for all to enjoy.

The River Center: Christmas Tales…A Very CSO Christmas
Join the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in the Bill Heard Theatre as they present a night of traditional holiday music. The performance will also feature stories performed by JJ Musgrove and the cast of Sherlock Holmes Mystery Dinner Theatre. Arrive early to visit with Santa.

The River Center: A Cantus Christmas-10th Anniversary Celebration Concert
The Christmas celebration will be held in the Legacy Hall Theatre. The Christmas Story will be told by the choir performing musical masterpieces assisted be a full orchestra. There is an encore performance scheduled for the traditionally sold out concert. Toast to the holidays with family and friends with complimentary cake and champagne punch during the intermission.
